Questions from Australian childcare owners
Ratios, NQS review, privacy, installation, cost and support - answered plainly.
Compliance and the National Quality Framework
Under the National Quality Framework, minimum ratios for centre-based services are: birth to 24 months 1:4 (all states and territories); over 24 months and under 36 months 1:5, except Victoria 1:4; 36 months up to and including preschool age 1:11 in ACT, NT, QLD, SA and VIC and 1:10 in NSW, TAS and WA; over preschool age 1:15 in most states (ACT 1:11, WA has its own rules). Ratios are calculated across the whole service. Confirm current requirements with ACECQA or your regulatory authority. SooperVision alerts when a zone drifts outside the ratio you configure.
SooperVision is designed to support NQS Quality Area 2, Element 2.2.1 (supervision) through AI-assisted alerts for configured risks and timestamped event records. Educators remain responsible for active supervision; services remain responsible for compliance.
SooperVision creates timestamped alert records and blurred snapshots that may support review and documentation. Services remain responsible for their governance, records and regulatory obligations.
AI-assisted monitoring and a documented alert history may support a service's supervision plan. SooperVision does not replace that plan, educator judgement or the approved provider's compliance responsibilities.
ACECQA does not endorse or approve commercial products. SooperVision is designed to support NQS Quality Area 2, Element 2.2.1 (supervision), and is delivered in Australia by GreeneDesk Pty. Ltd. Responsibility for compliance always remains with the approved provider.
Privacy, consent and educators
The CCTV supervision system does not identify anyone. It detects people, counts and events, and does not use face matching or store biometric data. Separately, the optional Authorised Pickup module uses consent-based face verification for authorised adults at the pickup point. It is not connected to the CCTV cameras, and children are never enrolled or identified.
No. Video is processed on-site and is not streamed or stored externally. Alert snapshots (faces blurred) and event records are sent to your dashboard.
CCTV supervision uses on-site processing, no face matching and no biometric data. The optional Authorised Pickup module uses consent-based face verification for authorised adults. Centres should update their privacy notices and seek advice for their circumstances. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Services should make sure families are informed about CCTV and how footage and alert images are used, usually through enrolment and privacy notices. Requirements vary by state and territory, so seek advice for your service. Sample wording is provided at onboarding.
The CCTV system is designed to focus on safety events, not individual educators. It does not track individuals or measure performance.
Technology and installation
Yes. Alert history is analysed by AI to show which rooms, zones, times and routines carry the most supervision risk, with AI-written summaries and automated weekly and monthly reports for your Quality Improvement Plan. Multi-site operators get centralised reporting across all centres. Insights are never about individual educators.
Yes. It uses your existing cameras, with no new cameras or rewiring. Installation details depend on your site and are confirmed at onboarding.
After a remote camera review, each centre receives a preconfigured device. Connect it to the network and it's running. Setup includes zone configuration and a short handover session for directors and room leaders.
Detection runs locally, so supervision monitoring and on-site alerting continue during an internet outage. Remote notifications and dashboard sync resume when the connection returns.
Alerts go to the devices your team already uses - a room tablet, a mobile phone, or the director's dashboard - with a blurred snapshot and the zone so staff know where to go immediately.
Yes. Multi-site providers get a group dashboard showing alert trends and supervision performance by centre, which is useful for operations leaders and boards overseeing a portfolio of services.
Detection thresholds, zones and alert rules are tuned per centre during onboarding and reviewed after the first weeks of live operation, so alerts stay meaningful. No AI system is perfect - SooperVision provides AI-assisted insights that support your supervision plan, it does not replace educator judgement.
Cost, trials and support
From A$350 per centre per month (ex GST). The final monthly fee depends on the number of cameras and zones, and whether you are a single service or a multi-site provider, and there is a one-off setup for the on-site edge device and configuration. It runs on your existing CCTV, so there is no camera replacement cost in most centres. Call 1300 181 665 or request a demo for a written quote.
Yes. Most providers start with a pilot at one service, review the alert history and supervision insights after the pilot period, and then decide on a wider rollout.
SooperVision is delivered and supported in Australia by GreeneDesk Pty. Ltd. (ABN 13 958 181 688), based in Victoria. Support is available Monday to Friday, 7am to 7pm AEST, on 1300 181 665.
CCTV is passive - it records so you can review an incident afterwards. SooperVision is active - it watches the same feeds in real time and tells your team about a supervision risk while there is still time to act, and documents the event for compliance.
Modules, SDKs and integration
Yes. Each module works standalone or alongside the others.
Yes. SDKs are available for Authorised Pickup and Educator Attendance so software providers can integrate them into their own products.
Yes, with compatible entry hardware. Verified adults can open or log entry, and access is revoked instantly when permissions change.
No. Only consenting adults are enrolled. Children are never enrolled or identified.
Face verification runs on the device; supporting services are hosted in Sydney, Australia on an ISO 27001-certified platform.
No. Face recognition is switched off on CCTV Supervision.
The algorithms are independently benchmarked by NIST. In NIST's Paperless Travel evaluation, which simulates boarding an aircraft by face, 99.91% of travellers were correctly matched (420-person gallery, false positive rate held at 3 in 10,000). Source: NIST FRTE Paperless Travel results, 28 March 2024. This is a benchmark of the underlying algorithms, not a measured outcome for childcare pickup.
No. Verification runs on the phone or tablet and works offline. When connected, the device syncs records with our secure servers in Sydney; after an outage it catches up automatically.
Any modern Android or iOS phone or tablet. SDKs are available for native Android, native iOS, Flutter and React Native.
Passive liveness detection checks that a live person is present, not a printed photo or a screen.
